Six Quick Ways to Cook Chicken Breast
Chicken is a versatile meat that can be cooked many different ways. Unfortunately we often get stuck in old habits, cooking the same dishes over and over again. So if you’re ready to start trying some different ways of cooking chicken breasts, then here are six fantastic chicken recipes to get you started.
Note: The following chicken recipes are for one medium sized chicken breast.
Wok-fried Chicken Recipe
For sweet lemon wok-fried chicken, cut the chicken into thin strips and place in a non stick wok over high heat. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until browned. Add 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon lemon zest, 1 teaspoon honey, 1 finely chopped garlic clove, ½ cup of snow peas and 1 cup chopped celery. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring regularly.
Sauce Baked Chicken Recipe
For honey mustard baked chicken, mix together 2 tablespoons dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Preheat the oven to 175°C and cover the chicken in honey mustard marinade. Place chicken into a small baking dish and cook uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes.
Rubbed Baked Chicken Recipe
For chilli baked chicken breast, combine ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon chilli powder, 1/3 teaspoon black pepper, ¼ teaspoon oregano and a pinch of salt. Preheat oven to 175°C and rub your spice mix into the chicken. Bake in a small dish, uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes.
Crusted Baked Chicken Recipe
For Italian crusted baked chicken, combine 1 tablespoon finely grated parmesan, 1 tablespoon Italian breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk an egg in a shallow bowl and dip the chicken into the egg before rolling it in the parmesan crusting. Bake in a 175°C oven, uncovered for 20-25 minutes.
Stuffed Baked Chicken Recipe
For spinach and blue cheese chicken, pound your chicken breast with a meat tenderiser until thin all over. Combine 1 small handful chopped baby spinach leaves with 1 tablespoon blue cheese and 1 crushed garlic clove. Spread the stuffing over one side of the breast, roll chicken and secure it with toothpicks. Bake in the oven at 175°C for 20 to 25 minutes uncovered.
Grilled Chicken Recipe
For white wine grilled chicken, combine 2 tablespoons white wine, 1 clove crushed garlic and 1 teaspoon fresh thyme. Soak the chicken in the marinade for 1-2 hours, heat a grill and cook for 3-5 minutes each side.
