How to Make Perfect Pork Crackling
It’s crunchy and chewy – it’s pork crackling! If you love pork, then chances are you are a fan of roast pork and try to make it whenever you can. But there’s nothing worse than a bad roast so we’ll teach you how to create the perfect crackling.
The trick to making the perfect roast pork is drawing out the moisture. But before we get that far, you need to preheat the oven to 230°C. Grab a bowl, combine salt and pepper, and mix it all together. Then, if it has been already, you need to score your pork.
Take your knife and skim the top of your pork about 1cm across. Then you will want to tie up your pork, put it in the pan, drizzle a little olive oil over it, and sprinkle a very generous amount of salt over it. Pop it into the oven and let it cook for 45 minutes.
You will know when it’s done when it looks like typical pork crackling. If you should check it and the pork is not hard, simply add more salt and let it sit longer. That’s it – you’re done! Take it out of the oven and serve after ten minutes.
If you are feeling a little adventurous, take the roast pork out after 45 minutes, add apple slices, turn the temperature down to 200°C, and set the pan back in to slow cook for an hour. You can monitor to see if it’s done by checking the firmness of the pork.
There you have it, the prefect pork crackling. When you whip up this little dish, you will have your friends begging for your roast pork recipe and asking for more.
