The best way to unfreeze a turkey (or thaw it) is to place it in warm water until it is completely covered.

You should also change the water every 30 minutes to keey the turkey at room temperature (the frozen turkey will chill the water making your task even harder if you don't change the water regularly).

Insert your turkey with the breast side down, in an unopened wrapper, with enough water to cover your turkey completely. You will need 30 minutes for every 500g of turkey meat (so a 3kg turkey should take around 3 hours to unfreeze or thaw).  A thawed turkey may be kept in the refrigerator up to 4 days before cooking.
